What is a bodger?

A bodger works green wood on a pole lathe, traditionally turning chair legs and spindles in the woods. We work that way by hand.

What does a chair cost?

It depends on the piece, the wood and the work involved. Tell us what you have in mind and we will give you a clear price.

Do you run courses?

Yes. We share pole-lathe turning and chair making with learners and groups.

How do I order?

Visit the workshop or write to us. For a chair to order we agree the wood, design, size and timing together.

Can you repair an old chair?

Usually, yes. Loose joints and tired chairs can be put right. Show us the chair and we will advise.

Do you make chairs to order?

Yes. We make chairs and stools from green wood, turned by hand, in the wood and size you want. Tell us your idea and we will advise and prepare a quote.
